ASR hips, developed and marketed by one of the world’s major manufacturers, Johnson & Johnson (J&J), are some of the popular hip replacement in the consumer market. However, two hip implants from the ASR system, such as the ASR XL Acetabular System and the ASR Hip Resurfacing System, have been voluntarily recalled by J&J following study results that suggest notably high early failure rates from these devices.
